Janie Lockwood's creative focus has been to emphasize the beauty of nature by simplifying and abstracting her subject matter. 

Her goal is to have the piece enjoyed from a distance but attract the viewer closer for a more intimate look at the surface. 

The substrate is textured before painting with detailed patterns applied at the end to increase the participation of the viewer. In doing this Janie hopes to create a feeling of mystery and entice the viewer to become thoroughly involved within each piece.
